Men's Brazilian Waxing at Reef Studios Rockhampton

Male Brazilian Waxing | Rockhampton

Your first Male Brazilian wax treatment, or 'Manzilian', can seem daunting. That's totally understandable.

First-time male waxing clients often say they only came in for a Brazilian after thinking about it for months or even years. If that sounds like you, don't panic. You're certainly not alone.

Note: This page is specifically about men's genital waxing. If you are looking for other body areas, e.g. backs, legs etc, visit the Men's Body Waxing page.

Reef Rockhampton specialises in Men's Brazilian waxing

My name is Andrew Thompson and I've been working on naked bodies for 25 years.

I am well known in the hair removal industry throughout Australia, and in fact, my old Brisbane shop was the very first male waxing studio in Queensland.

That's not a boast, but some serious comfort for guys who are considering their first Manzilian wax and don't know who to trust.

There are several big differences at Reef compared to other studios:

So that's the big sell. I hope you liked it 😊

Below, you'll also find a ton of info on Men's Brazilian Waxing as well as prices and popular styles.

I want to show you that removing men's body hair is one of my specialties, and I want you to walk through the door feeling comfortable, informed, and relaxed.

Call me on 4926 7778 or 0422 276 202 if you have any questions or to make a booking. You can also book online.

You have several options when it comes to Brazilian wax styles for men. There are no rules as to what pubic hair you want to keep or have removed in your intimate areas. Here are some popular styles of male bikini and Brazilians (a.k.a. Bro-zilians, Manzilians, etc) that I perform.

Importantly, don't feel pressured to know what style you want in advance. We'll discuss this before the treatment.

The Wedge is a narrower version of the Speedo Brazilian. It is popular with guys who want to look their best while wearing very little or nothing at all and don't want to worry about hairy bits popping out the sides. How much does a Manzilian wax hurt?

Like many things, the first time is the worst time. That said however, it's not terribly painful, and any tenderness fades quickly. Regular follow up treatments are much more gentler than the first, as the hair root doesn't have time to grow to its previous thickness.

I've set up a separate page devoted to preparing for your first Manzilian wax, so check it out:

Is Brazilian Waxing just something gay guys get done?

When I first started performing these treatments 20-something years ago, I would have said yes. Nowadays, the trend has completely reversed. Maybe 5% of my Mazilian wax client base is openly gay.

A lot of male Brazilian waxing clients are professionals, tradies, and public servants.

People in the public eye such as police officers, nurses, realtors, business owners, lawyers, politicians, and teachers are also common. I also do a lot of truck drivers from the mines.

Nowadays, men's Brazilian waxing really is an 'Everyday Joe' type of thing.

Will regular Brazilian Waxing make my hair come back thinner?

Yes, if you maintain it every 4 to 6 weeks. Beyond eight weeks, it will return to its previous thickness. Contrary to popular myth, waxing does not have a permanent effect on hair density unless you keep up with it for a long time.

I identify as female or have gender dysphoria. Will you charge me female pricing?

If I am waxing a penis and scrotum, you will be charged male pricing.

If you are post-op and have physically transitioned to female, I will honour female pricing for Brazilian Waxing.

I'm a cyclist and get itchy rashes on my genitals and butt. Should I get waxed?

I've written a special article about this. You can read it here:

How old do I have to be to get my pubic hair waxed?

Mens waxing review Frenchville

I will wax a guy's Speedo Bikini which is basically along the leg crease from age 16. Clients 16 and under must keep their underpants on. I won't do a male Brazilian, i.e. any treatment of the scrotum or penis until age 18.

Generally though, it's rare to have a request for removal of pubic hair on teenage boys. I think they like to retain their hair for a few years, perhaps in celebration of reaching puberty.

The desire to be smooth generally kicks off from late teens to early twenties with no upper age limit.

I'm worried my mates will find out I had a Men's Brazilian Wax and take the piss.

Male Brazilian wax photo number 9Let me tell you a story (another random anecdote). For the past couple of years I've been based in country Queensland, in my home town of Rockhampton.

In this part of the world, men are men and wrestle crocodiles. No time for that metrosexual big city stuff thanks. Well, at least that's the stereotype. Truth is I'm just as busy in Rocky as I ever was in Brisbane or Gold Coast. But despite this fact, the stereotype prevails.

There's a workplace on the southside of town, a nation-wide company that fixes heavy machinery - very blokey blokes - and for some reason, one by one, they started coming in for Manzilians around the same time.

It confused me because I doubted they were referrals because guys don't talk about this kind of stuff. And I was right - they weren't referrals. It turned out that the cause of this influx from one blokey workplace was an ad that I'd put on the radio, which by chance played throughout all the workshops where everyone could hear it.

These guys must have been scurrying about in secret writing down my phone number, because every one of them said "Please don't tell anyone I come here - My mates will take the piss." Meanwhile, unknown to each of them, all of their mates were coming in for a Brazilian Wax treatment as well.

The moral of this story? Guys are really dumb. Get over yourselves. It's fine to want smooth balls.

I'm curious about getting IPL instead. Can I find out more?

Will my Therapist be male or female?

I shouldn't have to qualify this question but I will. Your therapist will be me, Andrew Thompson, a male with 20+ years experience in the Australian beauty industry, and over 30 years working with naked human bodies as an artist, sports practitioner, remedial masseur, and acupuncturist.

If you have issues with my gender, regardless of my experience and unblemished reputation over three decades, I really hope you go somewhere else.

| return to index |

I only want a female therapist. How do I make sure I get one?

I'll let you in on an industry secret. Ask that question and the alarm bells will go off immediately.

Every salon owner in the world knows that when a guy rings up asking for a female therapist to do his Brazilian, then he's one of two things; sexually insecure - which makes him unstable and probably violent, or a perve hoping to shoot his load while some innocent girl does his treatment - which makes him a sex predator. Don't be that guy.

I'm hung like a hamster. I'm stressed that you'll laugh at my package.

Male Brazilian waxing Gladstone client review

Guys are really insecure about this kind of stuff nowadays. It's due to all the advertising about penis enlargements, erectile dysfunction, etc, which is all just marketing crap.

Sure, some guys do come in with extremely small penises, clinically referred to as a micropenis, which is one that is shorter than 7.5 centimetres (3 inches) when erect.

A therapist of any repute certainly isn't going to belittle a man for the biological cards he was dealt. They are there to remove your hair, not judge you.

As a sidenote, I will say that over the last two decades, the image of only one guy's penis sticks in my memory.

It was massive, beyond huge like a baby's arm, and had a thick Prince Albert piercing through the eye. Then on its underside were 12 titanium dumbbell piercing - one every inch - and under that, two duck-egg sized testicles like you wouldn't believe, with hoop piercings in the scrotum as well.

Its entire length was tattooed bright red with a dragon's head and two huge wings wrapping around the guys buttocks. The whole assembly was truly impressive to behold. Problem being though, he was 45 years old and still a virgin. Just the sight of it scared people, and I seriously doubt that any woman, man, or beast could have endured being this guy's lover. So, he turned it into an artwork with piercings and tattoos.

The moral of this vaguely-related ramble is just to be happy with what you've got. If you would like to know more about penis sizes, functions, myths, and so on, here is an extended article I wrote on the subject:

How long after a Brazilian wax treatment before I can have sex?

That depends on your response to treatment. This quick read has all the info:

Sex after a men's Brazilian Wax?

| return to index |

I'm worried that I'll get aroused during my Manzilian Wax treatment.

My first suggestion is 'don't sexualise it'. We're not doing anything sexual - We're just waxing. This insecurity is the main reason why most don't find the courage to get their first Brazilian wax. The reality is that new clients do get stiff about 80% of the time. That's fine and natural. It's only ever an issue when a client can't cope with his own reaction.

Sometimes I'll see a new client, particularly the insecure alpha male type, undergoing an internal crisis. He'll begin to get hard then his whole body will tense and sweat. He'll suddenly start babbling about his wife or girlfriend in an effort to convince me that he's straight. He's embarrassed by what his body is doing and he goes into panic mode.

Rockhampton waxing and laser hair removal review, client from Noosa

Getting an erection doesn't mean you're 'turning gay' or being unfaithful to your partner or whatever. All it means is that you're having an adrenaline rush. Your senses are firing overtime.

After all, you are lying naked in front of a stranger who is using oils and warm wax on your man bits while holding your penis to keep the skin firm. To be honest, I'm more surprised when guys don't bone up.

From my perspective, I'm not remotely scared by a client's erection, and equally, I'm not titillated by it either. I see this stuff all day.

I do prefer waxing an erect penis though. It's easier and faster than waxing a soft one. You will also get a smoother result because the skin won't be as creased which can hide hairs.

Hopefully the above has resolved the last of your fears. All you need to do is lie there and find comfort within yourself, and that includes not beating yourself up over a reaction that's perfectly normal.

Will I have to get on all fours to have a Brazilian?

No. Unless your waxer is also a proctologist, this falls into the realm of weird. I can't believe how often guys ask me this, but no, I see no reason why your therapist would need you to bend over like a gimp.

A mate said guys who get Brazilians just want to look like little boys.

Men Brazilian review Norman Gardens Rockhampton

Hmm, yeah, that says more about your friend than anything else. It's a weird thing to say, right?

I've heard it a few times over the years and it still makes me cringe. As the father of four relatively sane now-adult children, I can assure you that the genitalia of a pre-pubescent boy looks nothing like that of a waxed man.

Sorry, but your mate has a kiddie fixation.

| return to index |

Do I need to buy a special exfoliating mitt for the regrowth?

No just a cheapie - Don't pay $20 for one of those yuppy mitts at the salon. Go to Woolworths and buy a pair for two bucks.

What sort of clothing do I wear when I'm on the table?

None. Nada. Zip. Well a shirt and socks if you want. Beware of any waxing studio that makes you either where a pair of disposible undies or makes you hold your own skin tight. These practices are so common and dangerous, and both should be illegal.

Male genitalia has a lot of loose skin, and during waxing, it needs to be stretched firmly. I don't agree with the general practice in the industry that a male client has to hold his own junk tight, and nor that they should somehow do it through a fabric layer.

This is why so many guys get bruises and skin tears when they go to dodgy waxing studios. Ask if this is their practice when you book, and if it is, don't do it - Trust me on this; you will be in agony.

This hidden photo gallery is provided to help guys and/or their partners decide what they want. Pictured penises are of my clients, self, and staff over the years. Photos are presented tastefully but ARE NOT CENSORED. If you are not of legal age to view such material, or if the sight of penises post-waxing in various states from flaccid to fully erect is likely to offend you, DO NOT PUSH THE RED BUTTON.
